I started my career in 2017 at TD Ameritrade in Omaha, which gave me a solid foundation in finance, obtaining my Series 7, 63, and 66. Two years later, I applied and interviewed with Âé¶¹´«Ã½, joining the PremierCare sales desk as an internal wholesaler. I had always known I wanted to be in sales, but I didn’t know how much opportunity for career growth and advancement there is in the financial services industry until I joined Âé¶¹´«Ã½. After three months in the Omaha office, COVID hit and we went remote. Despite the isolation, the relationships I built—especially with Brandon, Nate, Jeremy, Matt, and Rikki—helped me grow and develop during that time. They are some of my best friends not just at Âé¶¹´«Ã½, but outside of work, too.

I was an Internal Wholesaler until September 2021 before being promoted to an E-wholesaler role - a virtual external wholesaler – on the LTC team. Around that time, I applied to and was accepted into Âé¶¹´«Ã½â€™s Sales Academy. This was a big step for me, allowing me to connect and learn from some of the best talent Âé¶¹´«Ã½ has to offer.
In March 2022, Premier Care was decommissioned, which was difficult to process as I had just taken the next step step towards my dream role – being an external wholesaler. Because of that, I had the opportunity to move into the life insurance side, taking a Business Development IW role in the Wirehouse channel. I graduated from the Sales Academy in Spring 2023 and shortly after, made the difficult decision to leave Âé¶¹´«Ã½ to join a BGA to work as a point of sale. However, I realized how much Âé¶¹´«Ã½ meant to me in that time and was lucky enough to return in May of 2024 to be a Sr. Internal Wholesaler in the IFP channel.

Work ethic and structure. A strong work ethic can solve a lot of problems, but we must do so within a structure. Be involved with the creation of your territory’s business plan and follow it. Make sure you know the why behind the activities you are completing beyond just checking a box. Truly understand your financial professionals and what problems their clients are facing. Learn how to prioritize your daily tasks and to-do lists. And lastly, never stop learning and developing.

The process started in August 2021 and was a whirlwind for the next 18 months. It was a demanding time, but it helped prepare me for the next steps in my career and taught me how to handle adversity and long travel days. I flew from Detroit to Omaha on an almost monthly basis for the program’s courses and built strong bonds with the rest of my class. We presented to leaders across annuities and life insurance, gaining visibility and cross-functional experience, while developing strong relationships. I’m extremely proud to have completed the program and still display the trophy in my office. If you want a career in sales at Âé¶¹´«Ã½, I strongly encourage you to apply for the program. Control what you can control—your effort and attitude. You can’t control outside factors, but you can control your work ethic and the attitude you bring with you. If you stay consistent and take the opportunities to learn from your peers and leaders, good things will happen. Internal wholesaling is a rewarding career path with many opportunities, especially at Âé¶¹´«Ã½. Sometimes the days are long, but the work we do and impact we have makes it all worth it.
There are so many great people that have had a positive effect on my career like Mike, Sean, Derek, Evan, Brett, Brandon, William, Colin, April, James, Laurie, Peter, Larry, and Bahn have all played key roles. I interviewed with Derek for my first role at Âé¶¹´«Ã½, and he was one of my first managers when I joined the company. Getting to know great leaders like Mike and Sean through Sales Academy has been an amazing experience. The level of sales professionals we have in the field is top notch, and getting to work alongside some of the best in the industry has made me better. The culture of mentorship that is engrained at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ is one of the best things about working here.
I’m a big Michigan and Detroit sports fan. I love going to games at Michigan Stadium, spending time with my wife Claudia and daughter Emery, and traveling. We recently visited Mackinac Island and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in September. I also love being competitive, whether it is at work, playing golf, or playing (winning) against my friends in College Football 26, I relish any opportunity to compete and win. I also love collecting and wearing Air Jordans, and much to my wife’s chagrin, have nearly 20 pairs.
