Aligning with �鶹��ý’s purpose of building confidence for generations, �鶹��ý employee volunteers and the �鶹��ý Foundation are partnering with nonprofits like Junior Achievement across the globe to educate the next generation on how to invest in their future and achieve financial success. In the first half of 2024, 116 �鶹��ý and �鶹��ý Re employees volunteered with the organization, from hosting students at the �鶹��ý office to spending the day in the classroom. These meaningful moments are helping to transform the lives of students who would otherwise have little to no access to the tools they need to succeed later in life.

Junior Achievement USA Student Summit in Washington D.C.

As a part of the �鶹��ý Foundation’s��$500,000 commitment over 5-years to Junior Achievement (JA) USA, JA USA reimagined their��held this year in Washington D.C. On June 11-13, they welcomed more than 150 teen entrepreneurs and innovators from JA chapters across the United States to compete for national recognition. Tere Segarra, Vice President of the �鶹��ý Foundation, represented the �鶹��ý Foundation, volunteering her time and talent as a competition judge and joining Christina Gonzalez, Staples Chief Legal Officer, and Jessica Purser, Chick-Fil-A Principal of Corporate Social Responsibility, to present the Company of the Year and Social Innovation Challenge winners during the final Awards Gala dinner.

Among 10,000 students who created more than 500 companies, 15 student teams made it to the finals of the��JA Company of the Year��Program.��Each��planned, launched, and operated a profitable business enterprise for up to 1 year that addressed an unmet consumer need in their community. Teams competing in the��JA Social Innovation Challenge��presented their creative solutions to address challenges our world is facing – from environmental sustainability to social inclusion. Congratulations to��representing JA of Southeast Texas for taking home first prize in the JA Social Innovation Challenge, and to��from JA of North Central Ohio for winning first place in the JA Company of the Year competition! Institutional Division hosted Junior Achievement Orange County Students at Office

During �鶹��ý’s Institutional Division’s annual all employee meeting in March, they welcomed 48 students from Western High School in Anaheim who participate in Pathways to Success program to learn about career paths and how companies like �鶹��ý operate.

�鶹��ý Volunteers met directly with the students and discussed their educational and career paths, leadership tips, and ideas for building a secure financial future. Employees also completed a questionnaire about their role at �鶹��ý, what a day in their life at work looks like, and advice they would give their younger self. In the weeks following the office visit, the students’ teacher facilitated lessons centered around these questionnaires to supplement their in-person learnings about career paths and how companies like �鶹��ý operate. The 77 �鶹��ý Volunteers played a key role helping the students envision their future, be inspired by what success can look like, and be empowered by the many paths to get there.

Junior Achievement Days in local communities

San Juan Capistrano

Kinoshita Elementary

Throughout the month of April, �鶹��ý Volunteers visited Kinoshita Elementary, facilitating JA curriculum for students. The ALAs (Alliance for Latino/Hispanic Americans) connection group, which champions Kinoshita Elementary as their community partner, was instrumental in recruiting volunteers for this event. In total, 15 employees from �鶹��ý and �鶹��ý Re participated. In 2023, the �鶹��ý Foundation��launched a SparkPoint OC financial literacy center��in partnership with OC United Way on Kinoshita’s campus located in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Since the launch, over 40 parents have either participated or are currently enrolled in the year-long program, which provides them with 1:1 financial education training tailored to their unique situation. By partnering with JA to bring JA Day to the students, �鶹��ý’s commitment to helping Kinoshita families become more financially stable is spanning multiple generations.

Central Ontario

On May 28 and June 4, �鶹��ý Re Volunteers spent the day with in the classrooms of local schools teaching students about economics and managing money. Volunteers taught grade 4-6 students at Jesse Ketchum Junior & Senior in Toronto to think like entrepreneurs and helped them develop business and money management skills. A few days later, volunteers made their way to Tiger Jeet Singh Public School in Milton to teach grade 8 students about the world of work and explored the financial tools that they’ll need to shape their own path.

Santiago Elementary

On March 28, 12 �鶹��ý Volunteers participated in JA Orange County’s annual JA Day at Santiago Elementary in Santa Ana. During their time in the classroom, volunteers helped students understand the basic concepts of financial education, entrepreneurship, and work and career readiness, while also fueling student’s passions and empowering them to believe in their education and themselves.

On May 15, the �鶹��ý Government Affairs team participated in the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) . This event is an annual three-mile race in D.C. that attracts participation from members of Congress, Administration officials, and federal judges. This year’s race raised $200,000 for Junior Achievement USA.��
